Day 91 – March 3, 2013

It is done! The experiment for James Bond in 90 days is done! And below are the assessments per category.

Fitness

Below is a summary on the before and after. I lost around 5 lbs over the 90 days. Not that great but if you see my body fat, I lost over 16%! But visually I can see a difference in my body. In the beginning, I started with the Tim Ferriss’ Four Hour Body Low Carb diet and work out routine. But in the last month I changed it up to Kinobody where I worked out only 3 days a week. I am planning to continue with this challenge and throw in more cardio. And I admit, I misread the Kinobody routine because it recommends to do cardio workout on your non lifting days, which I have not done at all. And with the flu, my diet in the last two weeks were a bit skewed.

Foreign Language

Not too happy with my progress because I did not dedicate the time I wanted to with this skill set. I am happy on the amount of time I did dedicate on how much I learned. I never had another session with Verbling.com which could have done a lot on my advancement. And at times, I was too tired. With the workouts and the current work situation where we are selling our company, maybe I was just too fatigued. But I also believe that I never focused on a schedule where even 30 minutes a day would not killed me. In other words I am making excuses.

Cooking

In the beginning, I did talk about doing this. And actually, I made a quite few dishes, never made the time to post it. But been happy with my progress on many achievements in this area.

Krav Maga

Again, I did not do anything. I was focusing on my fitness workout and actually found a center this past week. On round 2, I am going to incorporate this as my cardio workout. By that time, our company would be sold and my time will be more flexible.

Time Management

This drives everything. In the past two months where work become a bit more intense with the company sale preparation and that I am running another company as well, I was getting disheveled.

I could not manage my time and would get stressed when I look at my to do list. The problem was that I would estimate that doing a task would take 1 hour. Where in reality 70% of that time was me just not being focused. Because when I took the time to write exactly on what I am doing every 15 minutes or so, I would catch myself writing down “web surfing” and it auto corrects on what I need to do. Task lists that I thought would take 4 hours to do, I get it done in 1 hour. I did this experiment for about 3-4 days and it worked brilliantly. So I have kept up with this and incorporating it in my daily routine.

Confidence

Objectively I been pretty happy with this. There are some nights that I was just blown away on what I achieved but those details are a bit too intimate. The problem with confidence is that I am always pushing myself. So where I was at Day 1 compared to Day 90 was just awesome and in that aspect I am very happy with it but I am more excited on the next 90 days.

Conclusion

I am not happy with my foreign language and to a bit on my workout. With P90x as my benchmark, I could have done much better. I had enough time to get my body fat at 10% or even lower. An astute observer may say “Well get back on p90x”. The reason is that I want to try a routine that takes less of my time so I can accomplish my other goals.

Which leads to the question, “Did I do too much at one time”? A bit of me thinks so. I should have gotten my workout routine set. I just did not one day say, “Oh, I want to do kinobody”. That decision was based on research and finding out which routine I wanted to do.

Now with that routine set, I have the flexibility to move to the next challenge. Another example is the confidence challenge. It was not just going out and saying hello to women – which in reality is all you need to do. The confidence was built on meditation and using other resources to motivate me to take that step.

With the company sale, I am taking the next few weeks off and start another 90 days challenge. But I am going to continue with my workout because that is a momentum I do not want to lose.

Ciao
